Atha Group is based out of Kolkata, India and with over 6 decades of experience in the mining industry. The group has been a pioneer of iron ore mining in Eastern India, and is a reputed, respected and established player in India. With a Group turnover of over US $200 million in 2015-16, the group today operates diversified businesses from iron ore, power, sponge iron, calcined petroleum coke and renewable energy.
The Group owns and operates an iron ore mining capacity of 2.2 MTPA in Odisha, India and is augmenting the capacity to 3.5 MTPA. The plant is ISO 9001:2008 as well as ISO 14001:2004 accredited and lays strong emphasis on the enhancement of safety, health and environment protection.
The Group has also put immense focus on capacity addition in renewable energy through a diversified portfolio of power projects across various locations in India. It currently operates more than 200 MW of renewable projects and is looking forward to reaching 1000 MW by 2020 through both organic and acquisition routes.

Atha-Africa Ventures (Pty) Ltd (A-AV) is a subsidiary of Atha Group, India, and is the flagship Company of the Group in South Africa. AAV has a registered office in Sandton, Johannesburg, with a dedicated team of highly qualified geologists and mining engineers. The Group’s presence in South Africa is growing with a strategic interest in the mineral and power sectors. Other focus areas in the greater Southern African region include greenfield ventures and strategic investments in iron ore and other coal assets.
