Atha-Africa Ventures has conducted 360 degree stakeholder engagement processes during various stages of project development.
The consultation process included a wide cross section of stakeholders, including government departments, municipalities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and local communities, of more than 1,200 people and groups.
We conducted a public consultation process during the environmental scoping phase and the draft scoping report was publicised from 25 March to 30 April 2013 in line with the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, and from 25 March to 28 May 2013 in line with the National Environmental Management Act.
In addition, the draft environmental impact assessment/management plan was made available for public participation from 10 September to 11 October 2013 in line with the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, and from 17 October to 17 December 2013 in line with the National Environmental Management Act.
Public participation was also invited when the amended environmental impact assessment/management plan was published from 16 September to 27 October 2014.
The integrated wastewater management plan was submitted to the Department of Water and Sanitation on 27 August 2015 and public participation was invited from 19 June to 20 August 2015.
